Asset Discovery

Asset discovery populates the CMDB from networks at your site using a Monozu edge appliance. Discovery data is sent outbound to Monozu Cloud — allow outbound traffic per Network & Connectivity. The appliance must be registered and show Online under Edge Devices.

Discovery modes

Mode	Description
Passive	Observes traffic (e.g. via SPAN) to infer hosts and conversations
Active	Probes the local network to identify live hosts and services

Which modes run at a site is determined during Monozu installation. Discovered hosts appear in Assets / CMDB, often with a discovery badge until reviewed.

Review workflow

1. Open Assets / CMDB and filter or sort for recently discovered / unreviewed items when available.
2. Open each asset and confirm Site, Zone, Device type, and Criticality.
3. Merge or decommission duplicates; link supervision where appropriate.

Note

Discovery creates inventory signals; it does not replace change control. Production-impacting scans should be coordinated with OT operations and Maintenance windows where required.

Prerequisites

• An Online edge appliance for the site (visible under Edge Devices)
• assets.read to view; assets.update to edit discovered records

If discovery does not appear after rollout, verify Network & Connectivity and Troubleshooting.
